Gretchen Marsh Johnston – Chairman

Gretchen Marsh Johnston, daughter of founder Lex Marsh, serves as Chairman for Marsh Properties. She has also served on the Board of Trustees of Charlotte Country Day School and of Davidson College. Born in Charlotte, Mrs. Johnston attended Charlotte Country Day School, Saint Mary’s and Hollins College. Gretchen is currently an active member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.

Jamie McLawhorn – President

Jamie McLawhorn serves as President of Marsh Properties where he oversees company operations including development and property management, strategic planning and investments. He grew up in eastern North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Accounting.

Before joining Marsh Properties in 1996, Jamie worked for Coopers & Lybrand in the tax division, focusing on real estate clients, and for First Union Mortgage Company as a Risk Manager and Strategic Planner. He is a licensed NC Real Estate Broker and has served the apartment industry in various positions with the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association including President and as a board member of the Apartment Association of North Carolina.  In the community, Jamie serves or has served on the Boards of Discovery Place, Carolina Thread Trail, Levine Museum of the New South (Past Chair), Charlotte Country Day School and other local non profits.  He has served as an elder of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Jamie is married to Hunter Johnston, granddaughter of Founder Lex Marsh. They have three children.

Brian Kreefer – Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Marsh Properties, Brian Kreefer is responsible for managing corporate finance and accounting. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University with a specialization in Finance. During his time in college, he played on the men’s basketball team. Prior to joining Marsh Properties, Brian was the Vice President of Development and Finance at The Keith Corporation, where he was responsible for the underwriting and capitalization of all development projects and acquisitions. He also has served as a Board Member of the NAIOP’s Charlotte Chapter and volunteered as a Fundraising Executive for Hospitality House of Charlotte. He and his wife live in Charlotte with their three sons.

Margenia Love VP Marsh Properties

Margenia Love – Vice-President – Director of Property Management

As Vice-President and Director of Property Management, Margenia Love is responsible for the overall successful operation of the Marsh Portfolio consisting of nearly 2,000 residential units. Margenia is a 29-year veteran of the multifamily housing industry. Margenia is a member of Commerical Real Estate Women (CREW)- Charlotte, as well as, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association where she currently serves on the Board of Directors. Her GCAA activities also include a previous term on the Board of Directors, service as President of the Products and Services Council, various committee participation, and successful completion of the Association’s inaugural Leadership Lyceum program. Prior to joining Marsh in 2007, Margenia held various executive-level positions and earned nationally recognized designations, including CAPS and CAS.
